Youth Toolkit – Strengthening Democratic Values through AI Tools and Creative Expression

The Youth Toolkit project supports young people and civil society actors in Syria through creative learning, media literacy, artistic expression, and the meaningful use of AI tools. The project creates safer and more inclusive spaces where participants can critically engage with digital content, strengthen democratic values, and develop creative responses to social challenges and polarization.

A central aspect of the project is the use of art and AI-generated creative practices as tools for expression and for processing difficult personal and collective experiences. Through workshops in visual storytelling, creative AI applications, media literacy, and collaborative artistic production, participants are encouraged to imagine alternative futures, strengthen their voices, and reconnect with their communities.

The project also focuses on reducing learning gaps through accessible and responsible AI-supported educational methods, particularly for young people affected by crisis, displacement, and interrupted educational pathways. Alongside the educational activities, the project contributes to building sustainable local networks and long-term collaboration structures for future initiatives in Syria.

Implemented together with the local partner Citizens for Syria, the project includes the development of a local trainer network, a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme, and a context-sensitive curriculum tailored to the realities and needs of different Syrian communities. Activities are carried out in Damascus, Rural Damascus, Suwayda, Northern Rural Aleppo, Idlib, and Tartous.
